REVIEW: Beverly Hills Skin Care Gift Set

REVIEW: Beverly Hills Skin Care Gift Set

Beverly Hills was a new skin care brand to me a few months ago. Featured in Vogue, I first came across it when looking to purchase a new bottle of My Perfect Eyes (instant eyelift). The contents of my original bottle had dried up after just a few uses, leaving blobby clumps at the very bottom. I did not fancy attempting to add water in a bid to loosen up what was left.

I noticed that Beverly Hills also do an instant eyelift. It’s cheaper than My Perfect Eyes and is also available in this skin care gift set. I thought it was worth spending a little extra to see what else this anti-ageing brand has to offer.

Ordered from Amazon, the product arrived the next day (Prime). It retails at £34.99. I have been testing the products since December 23.

What’s In The Box?

When the product arrived, I was disappointed with the size of the box. There is an image online showing someone holding it behind their back and it looks at least twice the size. However, I was in for a pleasant surprise when I opened it. All the products appeared full-size and came in their own, individual boxes. This is not a trial kit and will last a few months.

The gift set comprises:

  • Vitamin C Serum, containing 25% vitamin C
  • DCX Dark Circle and Puffy Eye Treatment
  • Instant Facelift and Eye Tuck Serum
  • Lash X-Treme Advanced Lash Conditioner and Growth Serum
  • Killer Lashes Easy Remove Black Mascara

Beverly Hills Vitamin C Anti-Ageing Serum

On its own, this product retails at £14.49. It is easy to incorporate into a skin care routine but I would not use it as my main serum – rather as an additional product. The serum will help to even the skin tone and keep it hydrated. It can be used before you apply moisturiser. For the price, it’s not bad quality, but you can buy 20% vitamin C serums which are also formulated with hyaluronic acid and other great ingredients for under £8. For this reason, I would not buy this product as a stand-alone item.

Having said that, it was certainly worth having as part of the kit. Beverly Hills says the serum stimulates cell renewal and the production of both collagen and elastin. It uses high concentration but low pH Vitamin C to accelerate those processes, reduce the depth of wrinkles and lighten the skin tone. The serum further firms and smooths the skin while protecting it from sun damage.

If you suffer from irritated skin, chemical allergies, eczema, or psoriasis, the serum is said to be suitable and even offer benefits for those conditions.

DCX Dark Circle and Puffy Eye Treatment

The best product in the box! This little beauty retails at £17.49, if bought separately. It is formulated with arnica, which is a calming antioxidant, a gentle hyaluronic serum and peptides.

It is recommended for those who want to be rid of dark circles and puffiness around the eyes. Promising a ‘youthful, healthy look’, this treatment stimulates blood circulation to reduce swelling and calm the skin.

I’ve used it every night before going to bed and think it is fantastic. So good, I really don’t need an instant eyelift serum! It is very creamy and easy to apply – thanks to the pump-action bottle. The delicate skin under my eyes looks less like crepe paper and fine lines have diminished. I do not have dark circles so, I’m afraid, I cannot offer an opinion on its effectiveness for that problem. It definitely reduces puffiness.

Beverly Hills DCX Eye Cream

Instant Facelift and Eye Tuck Serum

Retailing at £17.49, this product is cheaper than My Perfect Eyes and, in my opinion, very similar. It does instantly reduce wrinkles and ‘lift’ the look of the face. However, it has the same-old issue with white residue – if you don’t get your application exactly right.

I have only used this product three times since purchasing the kit, due to the fact that I haven’t been anywhere to make an impression. You can feel the skin tightening as the product dries. I used it under the eye. It takes a minute or so to completely dry and, for best effect, you should not make any facial expressions during this period.

Beverly Hills says the product works in 90 seconds. It can eliminate under-eye bags as well as wrinkles. The effect lasts for quite a few hours. In my case, about six or seven. I’d say this product offers very good value, when compared to similar products. As with My Perfect Eyes, you have to be careful what make-up you apply over it.

Lash X-Treme Advanced Lash Conditioner and Growth Serum

I have not used this product long enough to form an opinion. Due to chemotherapy, I have very few lashes. For this reason, it will come in very, very useful as I spruce myself up for summer after my radiotherapy.

In the meantime, I have been relying on magnetic lashes. Sold alone, this product retails at £14.99 so I’ve got high hopes!

Killer Lashes Easy Remove Black Mascara

I have used the mascara on false eyelashes. I can vouch for the fact that it is easy to remove. I clean my lashes as soon as I take them off before placing them in a sterile box. As for the phrase ‘Killer Lashes’, I’ve used products that have had a more dramatic effect.

Nevertheless, it was great to have this in the box. The product is currently being sold with a fibre lash extender for £12.95.

My Verdict

If I had bought all the products in the kit separately, it would have set me back a grand total of £77.91 – so the kit will save you over £42. That’s a great deal. I’m definitely a convert with the DCX eye cream, and I will use all the other products in the box.

If you are looking to try a new range and fancy testing an instant eyelift product, this kit is for you. I don’t begrudge a single penny.
