The Ordinary skincare - best product choice for mature skin

The Ordinary rosehip seed oil

One of the advantages of The Ordinary skincare range is that it offers a tailored approach to tackling skin concerns. That includes products for mature skin.

If you are looking for an anti-ageing solution that ticks all the right boxes and is easy to incorporate into an existing routine, we’ve found the best product.

It tackles:

  • Dry skin

  • Dull skin

  • Signs of ageing

What is it? It’s The Ordinary’s 100% organic rosehip seed oil. It’s cold pressed and sold in a generous 30ml bottle.

The key ingredient is rosa canina seed oil. Great for parched skin, the facial oil is packed with vitamins and antioxidants for maximum anti-ageing benefits including hydration.

This product is vegan and cruelty free. It’s available from a wide range of stockists, including Beauty Bay, and costs around £10.

How to use The Ordinary rosehip facial oil

We’ve tested this product and recommend using it at night.

As part of an evening routine, it can be used to lock in a serum and provide a base for a night cream.

For mature skin, we always recommend double cleansing the face at night. A cleansing balm followed by a light, exfoliating cleanser (or vice versa, depending on your preference) is ideal.

Next up… Tone your skin. Use a toner formulated to tackle hyperpigmentation, such as niacinamide, or to smooth the skin. We recommend glycolic acid toners, especially if you wear make-up during the day.

After toning your skin, apply your regular serum. Make sure you gently tap it into the skin for 30 seconds after you have applied it to ensure it can penetrate the top layers of skin.

Now you can use The Ordinary rosehip seed oil. Depending on how dry your skin is, use between three and five drops. Gently press into the skin and then massage. Pay particular attention to problem areas, such as at the side of the eyes and above the bridge of the nose. Once the oil is properly worked into the skin, apply your night cream over it.

What we love about this facial oil

As well as lasting ages, this oil has a luxurious feel on the skin. It’s not too greasy and doesn’t have much of a scent.

It’s natural and easy to use, taking ‘complicated’ out of effective anti-ageing skincare.

We also love the price! For the sensation on the skin, its hydration benefits and longevity, it offers excellent value for money.

This product is safe to use on all skin types, including combination.

It’s a great alternative to expensive ceramide capsules and argan oil.

We tested this product on a woman aged 57 for four weeks. She said: “It only takes a minute or two to use and I feel my skin is softer, smoother and more radiant."
