There was a true buzz surrounding the latest PLouise TikTok Live Festival. The run-up saw invitations go out for fans of the brand to register in advance. As well as promising jaw-dropping deals, this event was punctuated with high-value giveaways that included iPhones, watches and more.
Personally, I am more interested in makeup than mobile phones and timepieces. The high-quality cosmetics was what got me logging on.
When I received my invitation to register, I felt deflated because the date (July 31) coincided with cancer surgery. I was resigned to missing out. However, by a stroke of luck, I was home to catch the last 20 minutes. No need to register!
I joined literally thousands - and snapped up a PLouise under-eye brightening Powder. That was at about 9.45pm. And the best bit? It arrived this morning - in less than 13 hours! Now that is frigging amazing. There was no compromising when it came to the unique packaging, either.
My PLouise TikTok purchase
The product I purchased is designed brighten that oh-so pesky area under the eyes. Described as offering full coverage and available in a range of shade finishes, I went for the ultra-light Snow. It is presented in one of PLouise's signature heart-shaped compacts in gold and pink with a delightful, good quality mirror.
PLouise doesn't skimp when it comes to size. This compact is larger than the width of my palm and has a net weight of 9g. What I particularly like about the design is the faux cushion exterior lid. It's devine and definitely display-worthy on a dressing table or shelf. The branding on the lid has POWdER with 'No one is you and that is your power'. Love it!
I paid just £10 in a PLouise TikTok exclusive deal and that included free delivery by DPD.
Why did I purchase this specific product? I checked into the Live to try and get my hands on a discounted EyeDentify Your Worth palette, but was too late for bundles and shadows. The product I went for satisfied my inner craving to dispel fine lines with a brightening powder. I already own numerous powders by other brands but, let's face it, PLouise is a cut above most other UK based cosmetics firms.
Another draw was the packaging. As I've already mentioned, it's cute beyond belief while offering great value for money. Even at its usual retail price of £18, it is worth every penny.
So, how do I rate my TikTok deal from PLouise?
The powder in this compact is off-white/light cream. It's very fine with some light-reflecting particles without being in the least bit glittery. I tested it right away! It effortlessly concealed some pores I have between my eyes and lifted my makeup look by enhancing my contouring. Fine lines and dullness under the eyes were significantly diminished. I would say this product knocked five to ten years off my under-eye area, possibly a bit more. It definitely has fab blurring properties. It's one of those products that will appeal to people of all ages. I love it for the anti-ageing properties.
On the TikTok Live, I am sure I heard one of the brand's representatives say (remember, I was still in the throes of coming down from anaesthetic) that it provides full-coverage. I would say it offers medium to full coverage that is buildable. It's sheer, doesn't settle in lines and is great for setting foundation in the delicate eye area. Powders by other brands seem to just offer a swipe of dull, matte white - while this product lifts and brightens with more sophisticated ingredients and finer milling.
The team from PLouise was wearing this product and, by the time I was impressed enough to buy it, the powder had been on their faces for 12 hours! So, it's definitely got staying power.
I'm so impressed with this product that I'm going to add a highlighter compact to my PLouise wish list.
Will I tune into another PLouise TikTok Live?
Sure thing! I'm no spring chicken and this was my first-ever TikTok purchase. I wasn't sure how to do it but the instructions were easy to follow. I can see this is going to be my go-to for all future PLouise purchases. It was quicker than using the website. The Live event saw two products being sold every second. I have got to give Paige (and her team) real credit. She has pulled out all the stops to get deliveries to exactly where they need to be. This has been no mean feat and must have taken a lot of sweat and tears to bring to fruition.
