Made by Mitchell Black Friday Mystery Bundle review

Updated: Nov 22

It’s quirky, fun and viral. Made by Mitchell is the art-heavy makeup brand that is about as far ‘out there’ as you can get right now. With neon packaging, creative designs and products fans can’t get enough of, this is a UK success story nobody saw coming. At the helm is unassuming Mitchell, the self-confessed Space Cowboy of beauty who is not afraid to be vulnerable and kind.

The first time I listened to a promo by Mitchell Halliday, a UK makeup artist and product developer, I knew straight away that he was different. There’s no act, nothing false; just a decent, honest person doing his best to further his brand and connect with customers on a personal level. He’s not cocky or over-confident, and that was something that I instantly liked. I knew it wouldn’t be long before I tried his products.

Blursh, the blush that was at the forefront of the liquid cheek pigment trend, has been on my radar since it launched. Would I get one in a Made by Mitchell Black Friday Mystery Bundle? Having seen the bundles, complete with a Tall Case, on offer on TikTok for £18.99, I decided to find out.

What do you get in a Made by Mitchell Mystery Bundle?

I purchased my bundle from the TikTok Shop. For my £18.99 plus postage, I was promised at least £70 worth of products. There were two options to choose from and both came with a tall vanity case. I chose Option 1, which suggested I would receive the case and five makeup products.

The order was placed at a particularly busy time for TikTok. A notice was displayed at the top of my order stating I may experience a delay in delivery due to the sheer number of orders being received. As it happens, my neon green package arrived just four days later. So, what was inside?

  • All Lip No Trip lip pencil in Selling Cookies

  • Blursh Balm in Sweet Cheeks

  • Beam lip gloss in Candy Cute

  • Blursh in Posey Rosey

  • Slime Shine liquid highlighter in Nightime Divine

The value of my bundle, not taking into account Black Friday offers: over £80.

About the products

The tall vanity case was a real surprise. It’s really well-made, with a wipe-proof outer layer and beautiful velvet interior. The one I received is lilac with neon yellow and black design detailing. It has a good zip fastener and a handle on the lid. I will use this for storing spare brushes. It’s perfect for travel or days out, and a totally handy thing to have. It also looks fabulous.

The lip liner is just my shade. I love nude lipsticks and this shade will give me the definition I need. I like it so much, I will probably line my lips, smudge in and top with a clear gloss.

Blursh Balm is quick and easy to use. It takes the hassle out of diffusing product edges. I like the shade I received as well - not too deep but enough to give my face a bit of a flush. This product is creamy and easy to build.

You can never have enough lip glosses, so the Beam product will definitely get some use.

I am not a fan of body highlighters. I’ve had far too many of these products in PLouise mystery boxes, so the Slime Shine is the one product from this bundle I will be passing on.

As a Blursh virgin, I was keen to give this liquid rouge product a try. The shade initially looked a bit too red for my super-pale skin tone but, as it happens, it delivered more of a stain to my cheeks so it blended effortlessly.

So, that’s what was in my mystery bundle. I think it was a good one.

Has my purchase turned me onto Made by Mitchell?

I’ve got to tell you something… Back in the year dot, I was a punk rocker. One of the originals (don’t look up the dates in pop culture history). This type of thing would definitely have appealed to my younger self. The vibe Made by Mitchell’s collections give off is really zany. I love the products but I especially love the packaging and product design. I like the bold lettering, the neons, the brightness of it all. It’s young and fresh and, well, in yer face.

This is a brand literally designed to appeal to the young. I am not so sure about the 40-plus market. I know I bought a bundle and loved it, but I’m a bit zany myself. Would other people? I don’t think this is a brand that currently has massive cross-generational appeal. If you think I’m wrong in that assumption, let me know.

Right, a couple of things I need to say before I wrap this review up… Made by Mitchell is an exciting, young brand. It’s going places. But… Mitchell needs to improve those TrustPilot ratings for website deliveries and customer service. Remember, the entire customer journey is what makes a brand an enduring success, not just the products and not even a very nice person at the helm. Tackling customer service issues should be a priority for 2025.

Some direct advice to the brand: Don’t launch too many new collections until you have got the whole customer journey aligned. Consistency is key across every area of the business. I'd also encourage Mitchell to look for an alternative to TikTok and to build a new social sales platform in parallel - just in case the US or other potential growth markets ban the patform. Global growth is what the brand should be aiming for. Having those direct sales eggs in more than one basket is crucial.

The luggage and travel bag collection is practical and stunning. This is a route for the brand to reach out to new markets and audiences.

Keep doing what you are doing when it comes to product development. The formulas are good and the packaging is spot on. Love the embossed touch to some of the tubes.

I enjoyed my foray into Made by Mitchell’s world. I certainly got my money’s worth and I had a fun experience with usable products at the end. Will I buy anything from Made by Mitchell again? I’m eyeing up those gorgeous luggage cases.
