The cost of operating in California and an ongoing commitment to only deliver high-quality products has forced Jeffree Star Cosmetics to increase prices on some of its core products.

The brand, led by makeup influencer and social media icon Jeffree Star, is heading towards its 10th anniversary.

The news, sent to website subscribers this morning, comes hot on the heels of a well-received new skincare collection. The Wake Your Ass Up range includes coffee-inspired products with effective plant-based active ingredients.

Customers were told in an email: “Despite our best efforts to maintain our current pricing structure, the increasing costs associated with operating in California and our unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality products have necessitated a price increase on some of our core products.

“We understand that price increases are never welcome news, and we want to assure you that this decision was not made lightly.”

'Primary goal' - Jeffree Star Cosmetics

Customers were reassured that the brand’s “primary goal remains to provide you with the best quality products”.

Rising production costs was cited as a consideration, along with the desire to continue meeting customers’ expectations.

Ahead of the new skincare collection, Jeffree Star Cosmetics launched the Gothic Beach and Scorpio collections, the latter being a nod to Jeffree’s star sign. The Gothic Beach eyeshadow palette, unveiled in advance of Halloween, was hailed one of the most original launches of 2023.

Some good news for US customers

The business had some good news for US customers ordering from its website.

The email statement added: “As we begin our 10th year of operation, we will reduce our Free Domestic Shipping threshold. For the month of January, you will only need to spend $50, down from the previous $125.”

Beauty Bay is Jeffree Star Cosmetics' official online UK retailer.

UK fans of the brand told Regime Skin Care they were grateful for the advance warning - especially at a time when most cosmetic companies don’t routinely explain the reasons for price hikes. One said she had checked for increases and “not noticed much of a difference”.

Trending products from the Wake Your Ass Up range include an eye cream and Magic Star™ Espresso Shot Serum.
