It’s been a while since I’ve been tempted to buy any makeup from Temu. My relationship with bargain basement cosmetics has been on a prolonged hiatus. That’s mostly because my head has been so seriously turned by UK brands that I’ve become obsessive about them. That break with buying makeup from China was also partly down to the fact that I don’t have the patience to wait longer than two days for a beauty delivery. So what got me browsing again? Slightly faster shipping times and more than 13,000 sales of a specific Temu concealer.

I find Temu very good for things like storage solutions and cleaning gadgets. However, a deluge of reviews for this one makeup product encouraged me to take a closer look. The Shaqinho concealer is available in three shades - Brightening, Peach and Olive - and is sold in a bottle with a sponge-tipped applicator. Described as waterproof and sweatproof, it promises to conceal and hydrate. As for coverage, the product is said to hide dark circles and blemishes, including acne scars.
The price? £1.65. Yes, under £2. That’s a steal for a product that in the UK, even from a budget brand, is going to set you back a minimum of £3. But, of course, savings are only ever really ‘savings’ if the product you buy does what it says on the label. In this case, conceal.
Why buy a Temu concealer?
I’m pretty tight when it comes to camouflage products. Apart from cream face palettes, which happen to include concealers, I haven’t bought a concealer in years. Instead I’ve used brightening under-eye powders or, where necessary, touched up my base with more foundation to ‘spot conceal’ things like the odd patch of redness. Just recently, though, I’ve had a hankering to try concealer under my eyes. So, the Brightening shade of this Temu concealer seemed like a dirt cheap option.
I’ve got a bag under my left eye. It gets quite a few mentions on this blog, because I am forever trying to get rid of it! Recently, I’ve noticed that the sagging skin is looking a bit grey - even under foundation. It is really sapping my confidence - and, consequently, getting on my wick.
I ordered the Brightening concealer and it arrived in exactly seven days - not bad.
About the concealer
This concealer is sold in a sealed box. It arrived in an outer clear bag with detailed product information displayed on a printed label. The actual bottle of concealer is slightly smaller than it looks online but is supplied with a quite trendy, statement lid that’s also practical. According to the packaging, the net weight is 5 grams or .5 grams (it’s hard to work out if the . should be there or not). From the size of the bottle, it looks more like it holds 20ml of product. It’s definitely bigger than a travel-size cosmetic.
Manufactured by Shantou Minghui Biotechnology Company, the concealer is further described on the packaging as ‘silky’ and ‘flawless’. The instructions are to apply a small amount to the desired area and to pat into the skin. I patch tested this concealer on skin behind an ear and left it for 24 hours. I did not suffer any irritation*.

Using a Temu concealer for the first time
I really like the shade of this concealer. It is a natural light and perfect for my fair skin.
Upon removing the applicator from the bottle, I felt that the concealer looked a bit dry. However, when applied to the skin, it blended and concealed beautifully. I used it under the eyes, on the bridge of my nose and on a red patch to the side of my left nostril. I’ve bought very expensive concealers in the past that did a similar job. The greyness under my left eye literally disappeared.
Do I like this concealer? I think it’s great. It works, it feels comfortable on the skin and, best of all, it’s inexpensive. The only niggle I’ve got is that there doesn’t look like there’s actually that much product in the bottle. I could be wrong, but it’s a bit of an effort to get much on the applicator. So, although this concealer ticks all the right boxes for me, I may have to buy another one sooner rather than later.
Do I want to purchase it again? The way I am looking at this concealer is like this:
You don’t get tons of product for that low price. It's maybe going to last me a month. What you do get is a concealer that works. So, if you were to compare it to a medium-range brand, you’re still getting a bargain. Plus, you are investing in a makeup staple with little outlay. If your finances are on Skid Row, this is a cheap way to get a concealer that both brightens and conceals.
While I was purchasing this concealer, I also popped a three-pack of twist-up black eyeliners and a pink setting powder in my cart. The eyeliners, while smaller than the UK standard size, are excellent and set me back under £1. The setting powder (£2.75) arrived in the most stunning packaging - and not just the box. I opened it to discover the two-level pot wrapped in truly beautiful tissue paper, sealed with a matching label. It came with a branded powder puff. Unfortunately, the powder appears a little too pink for my fair skin, but I will persevere with it and attempt to get better results with the tiniest of dustings.
*Always test patch new-to-you products before applying to the face.
