Revolution Pro Miracle Oil review

I’m a fan of facial oil, and I’m not alone. It’s one of those products more and more women with mature skin are gravitating towards. A rise in popularity for this time-honoured skincare staple can be attributed to more affordable products coming onto the market and a real need for a one-step solution to dry skin that has multiple other benefits. Enter Revolution Pro Miracle Oil, launched to complement Revolution Beauty’s viral Pro Miracle range.

Revolution Pro Miracle Oil with packaging

Inexpensive, yet boasting stylish packaging, this is the budget facial oil with an army of fans. As with any low-cost product, its success is rooted in the quality of the formula. Perfect for the evening skincare routine, it can be used before moisturiser, mixed with moisturiser or with traditional facial tools such as jade or rose quartz rollers and a gua sha.

While used for centuries in China, Greece and Egypt, beautifying oils have only really caught on in modern Europe thanks to lighter consistencies and ingredients curated for their targeted benefits. Revolution was savvy to add an oil to its Pro collection - sales of facial oils are expected to grow by at least six percent between now and 2033.

Pro Miracle Oil - the ingredients

Smoothing and moisturising, this facial oil promotes radiance. Revolution says it plumps and brightens while minimising concerns that blight the complexion.

Sold in a 30ml glass bottle, the oil promises ‘salon-quality’ results.

Ingredients include:

Botanical Collagen - anti-ageing, this ingredient minimises fine lines and corrects uneven skin tone. It is also firming while moisturising. It contains proteins recognised for their plumping and imperfection minimising properties.

12 Oil Complex - skin-regenerating and quickly absorbed. This combination of essential oils defends against free radicals and boosts radiance. This particular oil complex is a revered additive to skincare products because of its ability to fight the signs of ageing. Oils included in the product are extracted from apricots, lavender, jasmine and many more.

Linalool - an oil extract that provides a natural fragrance. This ingredient is anti-inflammatory and antibacterial. It is found in neroli oil as well as many herbs.

Limonene - helps other ingredients penetrate the skin’s outer layers. It is an antioxidant and reduces inflammation.

Pro Miracle Oil is vegan and cruelty-free. It does include denatured alcohol, which emulsifies ingredients and is a preservative.

Facial oil bottle and pipette

Using Pro Miracle Oil

I use facial oil two to three times a week during my evening skincare routine. My preference is to apply it after cleansing and toning, but before I use a moisturiser. I sometimes use an oil after applying a lighter serum, such as hyaluronic acid. I find oil with brightening properties can deliver results quite quickly. But the main reason I love a good oil is because of the instant moisturising effect.

I paid under £7 for Pro Miracle Oil. I’ve seen it available for as little as £5, but the recommended retail price is a very reasonable £10.

This product may be inexpensive but its packaging screams luxury. You won’t worry about having this bargain basement bottle of oil displayed on your dressing table. Aside from the attractive cut-glass bottle, the lid and dropper mechanism is not just smart, it’s innovative. Metallic gold, the lid houses a push button that can be used to fill the pipette and then release the oil. I’ve not seen this functionality in any other skincare product in this price range.

I would describe the oil as having a light consistency. It smells just like a spa product, very botanical, and glides across the skin, being fully absorbed in just a few minutes. I apply a quarter to half a pipette and work into the skin, first with clean fingers and then with a jade roller. As well as being a relaxing way to moisturise the face, it reduces puffiness under my eyes and helps to lift sagging areas of skin.

When applying any facial oil, I use a spa band to keep hair well away from my face. I ensure the headband stays in place for an hour afterwards. This is to stop my fringe from absorbing any of the product. Unfortunately, I’ve found out the hard way that you can wake up with a greasy-looking fringe if you don’t take this simple precaution.

I would say that this oil performs just as well as most other facial oils. It’s pleasant to use and does deliver long-lasting hydration. It has slightly brightened my skin in less than two weeks. In terms of ‘miracle’, it delivers what any good facial oil should.

Whether you want to minimise acne scars, rewind the clock or simply enjoy a facial treatment at home, Pro Miracle Oil is a budget-friendly option. Although developed to complement other lotions and potions in the Pro Miracle range, it can be used with products that you already own.

I have alternated using the oil with the Revolution Pro Miracle Serum, which also retails for £10. This is a very light, creamy serum that’s ideal for use in the morning and at night.

If you haven’t tried facial oil before and want to tackle skin dryness or combat the signs of ageing, Pro Miracle Oil is a great starting point.
