Anyone who has landed on this website before will know I am a true fan of Collection Cosmetics’ Lasting Perfection Foundation. I’ve tried alternatives, yes, but have they ever outperformed my fave? No. I usually buy this foundation from Amazon, simply because I’m a Prime member and I like the convenience of having it delivered to my door. This time around, however, I was nudged to deviate from routine - by the Collection Cosmetics Black Friday sale.
This is one of those beauty brands that you will easily find on the high street but, perhaps, not connect with on its website. Unlike Revolution Beauty, which has a thriving stand-alone online presence, and PLouise, which tightly controls where its products are available, Collection Cosmetics seems to have concentrated on the wholesale market and getting its stands on shop floors. Its actual ‘collection’ isn’t huge so, maybe, that is why this affordable brand has decided not to go all-out on website sales.
It’s really easy to navigate Collection Cosmetics Black Friday sale - I found what I was looking for on the brand’s website straight away. And, guess what? The foundation was reduced to… £1.75. You read that right - under £2! Now this particular product has recently undergone a re-vamp and my choice was to snap up old stock - in case I don’t like the new formula. While I was on the website, I spotted that delivery is free if you spend £12 or over. Well, that was a good enough excuse to buy a few more bits while I was there!
What I bought in Collection Cosmetics Black Friday sale
Black Friday isn’t just about buying Christmas gifts or treats. It’s actually a great time to stock up on staples. Other than the foundation, everything I purchased was ‘new to me’ but something I needed.
So, what else was in my online cart?
Filter Finish Flawless Skin Setting Spray
Filter Finish Loose Setting Powder
Filter Finish Liquid Contour Wand in Light
Grip Hold Plumping Face Primer
Lash High Mascara
Together with the foundation, my total spend was £26.81 and, obviously, there was no postage to pay.
I ordered on Saturday and everything was delivered in perfect condition the following Wednesday. For a Black Friday sales event, the delivery time was really good - just three working days.
Collection Cosmetics doesn’t appear to pack and post its website orders. My products came from Pricecheck Toiletries, a very long-established UK family business which specialises in distributing products for other firms. In fact, the delivery note from Royal Mail stated my goods were coming from Pricecheck Toiletries, which initially concerned me - because, at that time, I’d never heard of the company so most definitely hadn’t ordered anything from it. I needn’t have worried, though.
A few points about my purchases
I can never get enough setting spray - and Collection Cosmetics Filter Finish Flawless Skin offering is a good one. The nozzle delivers an even spray and the product sets makeup to perfection. I used it, along with the Grip Hold Plumping Face Primer, at 6am this morning. My face still looks like I’ve just applied my makeup and it’s getting on for 2pm. Between 6am and now, I’ve swept and power mopped a beachside restaurant and bar, ironed my bosses shirts and walked a total of 4,500 steps just to get to and from work. Phew!
As soon as I saw the word ‘Plumping’ in the primer description, I was interested. Anything that can help to iron out fine lines is going to get a try from me. Honestly? I like it! It is infused with collagen peptides.
I’ve yet to try the contour wand, but it looks very Charlotte Tilbury-inspired. The mascara I have tried. While the formula is great, I’m going to need to practise using the very slim wand. I’m sure it will help me reach lashes other wands can’t quite stretch to, but I truly don’t want to poke myself in the eye with it so I’m taking that one steady.
As for the finishing powder… I used that this morning as well (I leave the house ‘full face’ every day, even when the sun hasn’t come up yet). Yep, another good buy. The Filter Finish products are going to be repeat purchases for me. They are that good. The formulas are excellent and the packaging is divine.
Final thoughts
My final thoughts on the Collection Cosmetics Black Friday sale is that it’s a no-brainer. What’s not to love? Great products at bargain basement prices.
What’s going through my mind is that this is a brand that could do so much more to connect with customers on a one-to-one level. Opportunities are there for it to increase sales and grow - through its own website. I don’t see distribution as an issue because Pricecheck Toiletries is doing a great job getting those orders out. What could help both businesses is more brand partner segmentation for deliveries from the latter. I don’t know if it’s possible, but branded packaging would help as well. A simple Collection Cosmetics sticker would be a good starting point. And, obviously, those delivery notifications need to say Collection Cosmetics.
I’ll be visiting Collection Cosmetics website again very soon. It’s super easy to navigate, has all the staples I need and, actually, quality products for very low prices.
If you want to save money but still get the makeup you want, I recommend it!
