Collection Colour Correcting Blurring Powder review

Exclusive to Superdurg, Collection Cosmetics’ latest drop is going to appeal - if you demand a finishing powder that blurs while evening out your skin tone. I came across an advertisement for this product while scrolling my Facebook feed, and immediately ordered one. So, does the Collection Colour Correcting Blurring Powder offer anything more than a regular setting powder?

This product, as are all Collection products, is very reasonably priced - just £4.99. I thought it was worth a punt, because my current blurring powders aren’t actually that good at…blurring! Of course, they might be on someone else’s skin. Just not mine.

What I love about ordering from Superdrug is that everytime I log on, there seems to be a discount or points waiting for me in my account. So, I didn’t pay £4.99 for this product - I paid just £2.99. It arrived, nicely packaged, two days later.

Collection Blurring Powder

What Collection says about its blurring powder

This product is described as a ‘light as a cloud’ powder that is ‘invisible’ on the skin. As well as correcting skin tone, it is said to brighten and mattify.

Sold in a traditional compact with a clear lid, the solid formula includes colour-correcting pigments - which you can just about see in the powder. In the packaging, it looks as though it has a satin or pearlescent finish but it is, actually, matte when applied to the face.

While this product can be used on its own, to give natural skin a more even finish, I decided to use it over makeup. I always fully prep my skin before applying foundation and cheek products, so the blurring powder was lightly brushed over a fully made-up face.

Using a blurring powder over makeup

While I used a brush to apply the powder, it can also be used with a puff and pressed into the skin. This is good to know if you want to target specific areas, such as under the eyes or the T-zone.

I found this powder incredibly sheer and smooth. It glides on effortlessly. The real clincher? So long as you don’t over-do it, this product doesn’t settle in fine lines - something I find hard to avoid with many brightening and finishing products.

As well as giving my skin an almost alabaster appearance, it did even out my skin tone and give it a ‘more perfect’ finish. I set everything in place with Collection’s Filter Finish setting spray - my all-time favourite, even though it is one of the brand’s more expensive products at £7.99.

Overall verdict? Perfect, if you are on a budget. I’ve got brightening powders in my collection that set me back more than £15, and they aren’t as good as this.

The formula isn’t crumbly or heavyweight. It’s light, sheer and smooth, with a consistency I can only liken to silk. If you’ve ever tried a Laura Geller baked complexion product, this has a similar feel.

Do I recommend it? Yes. It’s a very good budget buy. It delivers a light-touch veil over the skin that brings a look together.

The benefits of using a blurring product

One of the primary strengths of using a good blurring powder lies in its ability to subtly diffuse light, which helps to minimise the appearance of fine lines, pores and even minor imperfections. This creates a soft-focus effect, lending the skin a naturally flawless and airbrushed quality - without the heavy look often associated with traditional powders.

What’s more, a blurring powder can significantly enhance the longevity of your base makeup. By absorbing excess oil and sebum throughout the day, it helps to prevent shine and keeps your foundation and concealer in place for longer. This is particularly beneficial for those with oily or combination skin.

The lightweight texture of most blurring powders also ensures they feel comfortable on the skin and don't contribute to a cakey or heavy finish. Instead, they often impart a velvety smoothness, leaving the complexion feeling as good as it looks.

In my opinion, the inclusion of a blurring powder can be a transformative step in achieving a polished and naturally radiant makeup look that lasts.
